Well, I know it is not summer any longer (certainly not in London this weekend) but this is the last one in our stripe series. There is a nod to the coming Autumn season with a mohair/wool colour block cropped sweater featured in the bottom right hand corner.
The sweater sits so brilliantly next to this handmade African Doll. This doll is featured in another book I have, found on a visit to South Africa a couple of years ago, called African Dolls by Frank Jolles. It is another really inspirational book for textile ideas – they are amazing pieces of traditional, local craft that have been lovingly curated by Dr Victor Dulger… I really recommend it.
Above it is another of Fleur Olby’s photographs which have featured heavily in this set of Monday moods… this one is titled ‘Grass’… not the last time we will feature her photographs I’m sure.
The man’s sweater really echoes the colours featured these two images using dark shades and white to offset a brighter palette, could be navy or black. This piece also uses an interesting stripe proportion and would also work well as a scarf, too.
Feeling much more Autumnal this week so I think the next Monday Mood will be much more in keeping with the season … may visit the world of arans again as it was a year ago we did an aran story. Hmmm.
