Today’s Summer Stripe 2 is in the same vein as last week using another of Fleur Olby’s Phormium photographs – this one is a much darker affair – with that wonderful intense tomato red running right through the centre and a degrade grey stripe on the right hand side of the photograph – nature at it’s finest!
The small image in the bottom right hand side is the back of a vintage playing card and above as the quilt experts will recognise is a section of a Gees Bend quilt.
The two sweaters featured this week really do reflect the colour story being told in the quilt – with the highlight of denim blue featuring in both and the darker coloured stripes really making the brighter ones sing. We will feature a mohair stripe sweater at some point this Autumn on our website, so keep an eye open for that if Post Punk is your thing …
I am off ‘up North’ this week to pay homage to the city of Manchester – Home of United and the Smiths – with camera in hand so watch this space. I am also going even further North to visit Kim and her Alpacas at Town End Farm in the Lake District so watch out for cute Alpaca photographs next week!
